Almost everyone has experienced a stiff or sore neck
sometime in their life. Given the complex structure and functions of the neck, it is no
wonder. Sitting on top of the neck is a head that is approximately 10 pounds which is
permitted to swivel, twist, and bend up and down. Passing through it are blood vessels,
nerves, muscles, ligaments, and the cervical spine. All brain to body communications pass
through the neck. The seven small spinal bonesin the neck, which are numbered C-1 to C-7,
make up the cervical spine. Protected inside these cervical vertebrae is the spinal cord,
which is the pathway between our brain and our body. The normal shape of the neck rather
than straight, is a gentle curve, called the cervical curve. Many neck problems may
not be life threatening, but can lead to problems later if not corrected.

Damaged or irritated nerves from
misaligned cervical vertebrae can cause neck pain, tingling or numbness of arms, as well
as a reduction in range of motion. Headaches, vision problems, dizziness, difficulties
with concentration, ringing in the ears, and learning impairments, have all been
associated with problems traced to the neck.
The chiropractic approach to treating neck pain is to find the
source of the neck pain,
and then correct it. By correcting the source of the problem the body can heal naturally
without nerve interference. Neck pain, often responds dramatically to the restoration of
the normal spinal function through chiropractic care.
Please call or stop by, we would love to
discuss that "pain in your neck!"
